BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES
PORTLAND, MAINE
OCTOBER 24-27 th, 1998

The Chair of the TEA, George Bradfield (GA), called the meeting to order. The Chair called the roll, there were 29 states present. The minutes from the 1997 TEA Meeting in Portland, Oregon will be distributed after the meeting for all the Members to review.

The Treasurer Lamar Woodham (AL) presented the financial report from last year. After the Oregon conference, the ending balance transferred to Maine for the TEA Conference was $4502.57. Bob Griner (Fl) moved and Mike Jenkins (IN) seconded that the financial report be accepted as presented. The motion passed unanimously.

George Bradford stated that the 1999 TEA Conference will be held the 2nd thru the 8th of Oct. At the Sheraton Hotel 165 Courtland Street Atlanta, Ga.

No state offered to host the conference for the year 2000. Jeff Hisem (OH) moved, that the TEA accept the host state chosen by the TUG on the condition they will accept the TEA. Eileen Phelan (OR) seconded.

Shirley Daugherty suggested the TEA Chair appoint a group to collect cost estimating manuals and procedures from the states and share that with the TEA Members. Membership indicated this was desirable. Incoming chair will handle this.

Charles Engelke offered, on behalf of Infotech to host the TEA on the Cloverleaf Web Site.

Election of Officers for the 1998 - 1999 year for the Board of Directors was held.

Jeff Hisem will advance to chair

 
Treasurer Gene Frederick (MN) was placed on the ballot. Nominations closed . Motion by Jeff Hisem(OH) seconded by John Kidd (OK) motion carried. Ballots were cast by show of hands . Gene Frederick was elected.

Secretary Bill McDowall was placed on the ballot. Nominations closed. Motion by Eric Erskine (ME) seconded by Ted Walschleger (IL) motion carried. Ballots were cast by show of hands. Bill McDowall was elected.

Vice Chair John Kidd (OK) and Mike Jenkins (IN) names were placed on the ballot.   Nominations closed.  Motion by Eric Erskine (ME) Bob Griner (FL) seconded by Roger Bierham (IA) motion carried. Ballots cast. John Kidd (OK) elected Vice Chair.

Appreciation Plaque presented to Maine DOT.

Bob Griner (FL) moved to adjourn. Ted Walschleger (IL) Seconded. Motion carried.

George Bradfield turned over the office of Chair to Jeff Hisem. Jeff Hisem announced the TEA will accept Infotech's offer for the Web Site.

Gene Fredrick will head a committee to review how we manage our meeting.

Plaque presented to George Bradfield in appreciation of his service to the TEA as chair.
